Facebook -
The Notorious ‘Dislike’ Button
As much as the ‘Like’ Button has
created relationships, it has also broken relationships. This button has
brought millions of people together to share a moment of love, happiness, joy
or gratitude. Currently, the same ‘Like’ Button is used for sympathy, anger,
frustration or sadness. However what about moments that are too tragic to be
‘liked’? Besides the ‘Comment’ and ‘Share’ buttons, there is no button to display
an instant reaction of remorse for the tragic news shared by one’s peers.
Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg has
taken note of the millions of requests for a ‘Dislike’ button to convey
emotions which were opposite of ‘like’. In addition, he feels that “Not every
moment is a good moment, right? And if you are sharing something that is sad,
whether it’s something in current events like the refugee crisis that touches
you or if a family member past away, then it might not feel comfortable to Like
that post. But your friends and people want to be able to express that they
understand and that they relate to you.” (For more about the Dislike button,

This social media feature upgrade
hasn’t been released yet but it has definitely gotten the attention of millions
of Facebook users. Their voices were heard by Zuckerberg and questions related
to advertising, media and branded digital marketing is feeling the heat. The
Like button has been a misguided feature for agencies that use it as a ruse to
placate the clients that their brand is well received on the digital platforms.
Social engagement formulas can be disrupted and more transparent data can put
some agencies at jeopardy with their clients.
Snapchat – The Rainbow Pouring From You Mouth Filter
This Snapchat selfie filter is
not available on Android as yet but it’s definitely spread like wildfire across
social media platform. How to get this selfie filter? By having ‘proper
lighting in your house or wherever you are at. Put your Snapchat in selfie mode
and hold down on your face. Once you do this you will be given filter options.
From what we understand, there are going to be seven filter options with one
constantly rotating. This particular filter will be the third from the left.
Once you select the filter you will then need to hold down the picture button
to take a video or a picture.” (For more on selfie filters click here)
This rainbow filter is perhaps
inspired from memes. It’s used to display the ’mouthwatering’ emotion in
multicolored effect. It does not seem as a long-lasting filter. It has gotten
the attention of the social media masses until the trend fades. Seriously, how
many rainbow selfies can you take?
Instagram – The Much Needed Sharing Button
Facebook's Instagram added new features allowing
users to exchange messages in private and group conversations as the photo and
video-sharing service aims to keep up with growing messaging service
Snapchat. The new features mean
Instagram users can share pictures directly with one friend or a group of
people and send back text responses or pictures, which Instagram hopes will
make users want to stay on its mobile app or web site longer. Young mobile
users are increasingly interested in messaging friends and having conversations
online, rather than merely viewing content. “As much as 40% of all comments on
Instagram posts mention other accounts, Instagram said, suggesting that many
users like to flag content to users they know and start conversations about
it.”
